How this desk works
- An officer puts their name on a patrol area, shift, and relief days even when someone already sits there.
- They can remove their name. A name left on another list can still be used for a second transfer.
- Administrator, staffing, or an approver sets a cutoff date. After that date, new names stop so the list can be approved or denied.
- Patrolmen are ordered only against patrolmen. Sergeants only against sergeants. Seniority 1 is the most senior of that rank. A move waits until that seat is open.

Add to the roster
Choose a rank you added in Department setup, and a seniority number. 1 is the most senior officer of that rank. The same number can be used again for a different rank. Then use Current patrol assignment to put them on the shift, substation, and relief days they hold now.
Add ranks in Department setup before adding officers.
Current patrol assignment
Place an officer who was added to the roster onto the patrol they hold now. Pick the patrol area, substation, shift, and relief days. The department starts from these seats. Later moves go through a transfer.
Department setup
Design how this department uses SHARDS. Add patrol areas, shifts, and relief days. Add a substation only if the department uses one. Add ranks so seniority stays inside a rank. Then build the seats officers can request.
Patrol areas
Substations
Optional. A substation sits inside a patrol area.
Shifts
Relief days
Ranks
Officers are compared only with others of the same rank.
Seats officers can request
A seat is one patrol area, one shift, and one set of relief days. The substation can be left blank.
Current patrol assignment
After the officers are on the roster, place each one on the patrol area, substation, shift, and relief days they hold now.
Badge, SAP, and dates
Set the badge number, SAP number, hire date, and sworn date for an officer already on the roster. Leave a field blank to clear it.
Set rank
Ranks are the ones you added in Department setup, such as Patrolman, Detective, or Sergeant. This updates an officer already on the roster.
Current patrol assignment
Place an officer who has no seat onto the patrol area, substation, shift, and relief days they hold now.
Department roster
Every officer on the department. Search the sheet, and add a photo on the officer's line.
